Usual causes: Of acid reflux are over production of acid and incompetent lower esophageal sphincter.  You symptoms could be alkaline reflux however after gallbladder removal.  Talk to your GI specialist for recommendations.

Bile gastritis: The gallbladder stores bile and releases it during meals, after it is removed, the bile constantly drains into the intestine and if refluxes into the stomach, can cause bile gastritis.  While acid suppression is helpful, you may still have symptoms.  A trial of carafate (sucralfate) may be helpful as well as changing your diet to low acid foods and frequent meals.  Surgery may be indicated if severe symptoms.

See your doctor: Many of the symptoms of gallbladder disease and reflux are similar, but the two diseases are really unrelated.  The surgery didn't cause your reflux, it was already there in addition. With the gallbladder out now you just notice it more.  If over the counter mess don't work, you may need prescription medication.  A GI evaluation also in order as long term reflux can cause esophageal problems.

Too vague: You did not specify how long ago your surgery was done.  If it is very recent and you are having fever, please call the surgeon now

Possible, but not: likely.  More likely explanation is alkaline reflux.  It is not unusual to take up to 2 or 3 months for your system to get accustomed to absence of storage capacity of gallbladder.  If symptoms persist beyond this time, go back to your doctor for advice.

i had my gallbladder removed in september. i've been experiencing increased acid reflux symptoms since. could this be healed by taking bile salts?

Acid reflux: Acid reflux may be a separate problem, more noticeable since your gallbladder surgery. Start with TUMS (calcium carbonate), (calcium carbonate) they are inexpensive and available without prescription. Then get in to see your regular doc, report the results with TUMS (calcium carbonate). You may need a prescription or EGD, (a scope to look at esophagus and stomach). Be well.

Bloating and pain: Regardless of your prior history and surgeries, your current symptoms of bloating/swelling in the abdomen and pain should be evaluated. If you are not vomiting and not febrile it is okay to see your doc as on outpatient. There are lots of possibilities to account for your symptoms.
