Please consult : With your surgeon. With any tendon lengthening procedure there will be some degree of weakness. This is inherent in the procedure. Muscle/tendon strengthening may be helpful, a physical therapist can help with this, you may require orthotics or bracing in the meantime to prevent any falling or instability.

Not yet: It is not about the amount of time that has passed. Not a good idea to drive with your right foot until you are not feeling pain. You need your reflexes to be at 100%. Perhaps you need to have physical therapy to help things along?

Achilles surgery: People who have not had surgery often experience pain and tenderness after being on their feet all day. Be sure you are wearing the most comfortable shoes possible with arch support. Low heels but not flats. Preferrably new training shoes with thick cushioning. Might need to return to your surgeon for more information, but healing can continue to at least a year or more for full strengthening.

The calf muscles: Are a complex of several muscles, but the 2 main muscles that become the achilles tendon start above and below the knee. Your ability to bring your foot up depending on whether your knee is straight or flexed will determine which muscle is "tight." it's usually better to lengthen the muscle itself than to lengthen the achilles tendon itself. See an orthopedist.

Recovery time: Achilles tendon lengthening requires non-weightbearing for at least 4-6 weeks.  During this time, your tendon is trying to heal/repair the gaps made during the surgery.  If you bear weight too early, you risk tearing the tendon or rupturing it completely.  As a result of the surgery, your Achilles tendon will be weaker (4/5 strength instead of 5/5), but you should be able to hike etc.
