6 weeks no weight: Typically, we believe that the microfracture created fibrocartilage (lining that develops in place of the normal cartilage) takes 6 weeks to mature. We don't have specific studies in humans to prove this, but it is an accepted guideline. Therefore we use 6 weeks of no weight on the microfractured area, then exercises to strengthen the surrounding knee. About 50% of microfractures are successful.

Unproven: It is a way to treat osgood schlatters but you have to buy the book describing how it works from jenny strickland who developed the treatment.  I am unable to find any peer reviewed articles written that substantiate her claims.  I have looked it over and there is nothing recommended that would hurt the young athlete.  Depending on the cost of the book it might be the same as a co-pay at pt.

No: Firstly there are multiple types of leukemia (acute, chronic, granulocytic, lymphocytic, hairy cell). There's a general consensus based on respected multi-insitutional centers on the latest successful regimens. But these are only guidelines. Each person is unique and rx may need to individualized. Also new studies r always being done, and study portocols will vary from one institution to another.

Flare protocol: The flare protocol is used in patients with poor response to standard IVF protocols or in patients with diminished ovarian reserve. It's benefits are potentially getting more eggs during the cycle. Risks are similar to the risks of standard IVF.

Several: There are multiple protocols for a child with all.  They frequently change as well, because we are learning more and more about how to take care of these children all the time.  The best source of information for the current protocols is your oncologist.  When i was a child, all was a death sentence.  Now, because of all that's been learned, it's not any longer. Yes: Careful family history, physical exam, echocardiogram if indicated, skin biopsy for collagen typing, collagen gene mutation testing and lysyl hydroxylase or lysyl oxidase activity.

Mind over matter: My personal feeling on this protocol is that if traditional medications and therapies commonly used for either progressive or relapsing-remitting MS have not helped you achieve the kind of remission or acceptable therapeutic benefits you desire,I think there is no harm in trying something like the Walhs Protocol because you never know sometimes when diet can be the whole solution to what you seek
