Congential : It's not really "on the kidney" is near the kidney.  An accessory spleen can develop at birth and does not usually cause any harm or symptoms.  It is usually found from abdominal x-rays like a ct scan, or a surgery on other abdominal organs.

You are normal: 20-30% of the population have accessory spleens.  They are normal.  You are just lucky to have extra organs!

Accepted Answer

Normal variant: A significant number of people ~ 8-10% of the general population, according to one source, may have accessory spleens. In most, they remain undiagnosed unless an imaging study is done for some reason. There is generally no medical side effect in most cases.

No difference: One reader of ct may have overlooked accessory spleen or splenule which can be quite small or did not report it because of lack of importance. The major spleen does most of work for body. Accessory spleen has very minor function.  It's only importance if interpreted wrongly as some other mass or if need splenectomy and accessory spleen is left  behind. In most cases it is of little importance.

i'm struggling with low eos level for years. it's like 0.07 ul. i have a high cortisol too and my lower back hurts by the night. usg shows an accessory spleen and it's like 60mm in diameter. my body numbs very often, should i worry about that?

: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, a low eosinophil count is not a cause for concern.   Wish you good health!

: Accessary spleen means you have some splenic tissue in addition to the normal organ. If asymptomatic -needs only observation

Lucky you-you got 2: There is probably a long list of very rare things--but accessory (extra) spleens are not uncommon and most radiologists are comfortable is identifying them. Never know when an extra spleen might come in handy.

Enlarged spleen: The spleen is just below the ribcage on the left side. An enlarged spleen can be a sign of illness. And it may be tender if it is large. It sounds like your doctor is doing the appropriate tests and giving medication to treat this.

Other way around: There can be "accessory" spleens.  This just means that when a person was developing, an extra spleen developed.  They are not dangerous and don't cause any problems.
