Ablation vs. hyst: When looking at the difference between a hysterectomy or ablation, it is important to keep in mind which symptoms are needing treatment, and length of recovery.  An ablation can be successful in treating abnormal or heavy bleeding, but less successful in addressing issues of pain.  A hysterectomy is invasive and requires a recovery time of weeks instead of days.

Not usually: Ablation impact is on the lining of the uterus (womb). Myomas (fibroids) are mostly in the walls  if excess bleeding is caused by fibroids, it is usually not treated by ablation.

It depends: It depends on several factors as follows. Have you completed your childbearing? How many fibroids are present? Are you anemic? Do you want to retain your uterus? Can you tolerate failure of this treatment method and willingness to consider other Rs.'s at that point? As you can see, a "good plan" is one that takes into account the patient's  physical condition, wishes  MD skill set.

Probably not: A combined laparoscopic myomectomy/ fibroid electrocoagulation and diagnostic hysteroscopy / possible endometrial ablation might be better choices , if you have already explored some non-surgical options like GnRH analogs and  unless you do not want to consider a more definitive operation like a laparoscopic hysterectomy. Consult a specialist in fibroid treatments and Minimally-Invasive-Gynecology

Good choice: An ablation is a great option for people with heavy periods who are finished having children.  I assume you have had a pelvic sonogram already. Fibroids are easy to see on a sonogram. Even if you did have fibroids an ablation is still a reasonable option.

Depends how big: And where the fibroids are located in the uterus or possible a myomectomy I do ablation in the office and usually works quite well but i would ahve to know how many fibroids and where they are before i would rec that for u if u have intra cavitary fibroids many times a myosure can be done to remove the fibroids.

Reasonable choices: You don't provide nearly enough information to answer your question. There are a lot of variables, but in general fibroids are common and do not cause pain. A hysterectomy is major surgery but would more definitely solve the problem. However, if the pain is because your fibroids are causing heavier bleeding, then the ablation could be an excellent choice.
