Needs eval : This isn't a usual presentation for colon cancer, since it's usually without symptoms, and doesn't happen to 17 year olds very often. There are a lot of colon conditions that need to be considered by a doctor in person to figure this one out which i'd suggest you get done early next week.

Crohn's,cancer: These persistent symptoms must be addressed by your gastroenterologist and/or your colorectal surgeon. Appropriate testing will be done. Concern is for active inflammation(Crohn's) of the intestinal tract, complications from prior surgery, or recurrent malignancy.

Could be: Hundreds of conditions can cause stomach aches.  Colon cancer is one of those conditions which can cause abdominal pain.  See your doctor for a thorough evaluation.

Depends: Early colon cancer has no symptoms. Later can develop rectal bleeding, change in bowel function with smaller loose bowel movements, and later even colon bowel blockage. Indigestion is not a common symptom of colon cancer. See a doctor for an evaluation.

my teen son has an anxiety disorder. when he feels a pain, he thinks it's cancer. recently, he's been having abdominal pain on the left side (sometimes other side), he says it got worse after he got anxious over it. is this "colon cancer", or anxiety?

: Left sided abdominal discomfort is often due to constipation. A teenager is unlikely to have colon cancer but getting this treated if it is constipation would be helpful. So, he should be seen by his doctor if this discomfort continues, especially if he is constipated. Health anxiety can be treated by psychiatry so that this does not continue to be an issue for him throughout his life. Good luck!

Try not to worry: The symptoms you describe are not consistent with colon cancer.  My recommendation is for you to develop a plan with your primary care doctor for screening for colon cancer.  Based on current guidelines in a patient with your positive family history, I recommend having a screening colonoscopy at age 40, or possibly 35.  However, if you have blood in your stools, you should have colonoscopy. B well

have active colitis,acute cryptitis& abscess in both colon&rectum. persistent diarrhea for 12 weeks& it wakes me up at night. abdominal pain left side& right side. doc said ibs bc i've only had it 3 months so it isn't chronic. i thought ibd. explain?

: Bubbly vibrations in the area of your intestines probably means that you have excess gas or fluids rushing through those areas. This can be due to irritation, dietary changes (too much sugar, too much fat) or infection. Try using probiotics and increasing your fiber intake through fruits and vegetables.

Insist on an answer: Junior needs to be seen. Cancer's unlike at 17 without a strong family history. If there is any concern that this is serious disease, he needs colonoscopy. If the spleen is big, an explanation needs to be found. It would be appropriate to check junior for porphyria and hypothyroidism. If you are not satisfied with any answer you get, or junior is not satisfied, demand a second opinion.

Prob. diverticulosis: Either Cancer or diverticulitis will worsen over time and both can become deadly. Early diagnosis and treatment can save your life.
