Relaxation: When we are not under stress we produce more saliva which promotes healing. We all need 11/2 liters of saliva daily for digestion and prevent constipation. The saliva also has a neutralizing affect on tooth decay so be happy you have all of the saliva.

Excess Saliva: Could it be the toothpaste or mouthwash you are using before you go to bed? Do you have any special snacks a few hours before bedtime? Do you watch food commercials on tv right before bedtime? I am not sure if there is a medical reason for this, so consider the above and if no improvement please discuss with your medical doctor.

A good thing.: Saliva is a beneficial thing, some people don't produce enough. Without it the teeth would not have any defense against tooth decay and the acids from the foods that we eat and drink. 
Your system may just need to create more then you think is needed to take care of the environment in your mouth. Of course when there is a signifcant problem it is always good to have it evaluated by your dentist.

Dysphagia types: "transfer dysphagia" is a problem moving food/saliva from your mouth to the top of the esophagus; "transit dysphagia" is a problem transiting the food down the esophagus. Motility studies (modified barium swallow with speech therapist; esophageal manometry) may be helpful in identifying the point of pathology, if present.  Sometimes, just esophageal spasms can make swallowing feel problematic.

Consult a Doc: Sometimes when people are fatigued or stressed these symptoms can occur. Lack of sleep may also cause symptoms like this. If you cut yourself with a foreign object recently, you may want to consider when your last tetanus shot was. Some types of bug bites can cause these symptoms. See your family physician soon.

You can see an ENT doctor to see what treatments are possible for your case-there are doctors who inject Botox into the salivary glands to decrease saliva in some patients. Excessive saliva: You should make sure you let her primary care physician know or her dentist. If she recently got dentures this could be a cause of excessive saliva. This will get better with time. You will just have to make sure she has a towel or cup handy until it gets better. She may need to have her medications reviewed by her doctor or her dentures adjusted.

This sounds more: like a psychological problem than a medical problem. Ask your primary health care provider for a referral to a counselor who could help you with this issue.
