Weight lifting: These types of symptoms are seen in weight lifters. If you are chronically straining these areas by lifting weights or doing some stressful exercising, holding off for 7 to 10 days usually resolves the problem otherwise an exam of these areas by your pcp is recommended.

i have an electric shock feeling running down my funny bone to my pinky only when i shrug my shoulders. sometimes, i get this sensation in my right arm. i injured my left shoulder lifting weights nearly a year ago, i'm pain free since. any concern?

Nerve impingement: Impingement or entrapment of the ulnar nerve can cause the feeling of electric shock radiating down ones arm from the elbow to the pink and ring fingers. The ulnar nerve starts need the shoulder joint so it is possible that traumatic injury to the shoulder can affect the ulnar nerve. An orthopedist can evaluate for ulnar nerve injury and treat this condition by nonsurgical or surgical therapy.

Nerve problem: Sounds like you have a pinched or compressed nerve. See an orthopedist or neurologist. Often times the longer youy wait to be treated, the worse the condition can get.

While : While cervical (neck bone) compression fractures are rare in the absence of trauma, its quite possible you have a degenerative condition causing your symptoms.  Disc bulging, herniations, and arthritis are just a few conditions that are commonly a source of nerve root irritation in the neck that can cause neck/shoulder pain that travels down the arm.  Most of the time it can be treated successfully with nsaid's, pt, activity modification, etc.  Less commonly it requires some more invasive intervention (injections or surgery).  A visit to your pcp (or orthopedist if you have one) would be in your best interest.

Pinched nerve: Your symptoms may originate in your back and suggests a pinched nerve or nerve root. Best will be to have it addressed with your doc. Watch your posture during the day, overuse of right arm.

AC separation : The bone is the distal end of the clavicle (collar bone), usually caused buy an injury when u fall & ur shoulder is driven into the ground like when a quarterback gets sacked. C an ortho 4 x-rays & exam.

i've had a pain in the left-side of my neck, which extends slightly to my left shoulder & the top of my arm, for 3 weeks. it is only noticeable when i am in certain positions & there have been no other symptoms. i am in my late 60s.  please advise!

Radiculopathy: You may have a bulging intervertebral disc or  arthritic spur pressing on a nerve root in your lower neck. An MRI would be helpful in diagnosing your problem. You could try wearing a soft neck collar if there's significant pain on neck motions. A neurologist can evaluate you and order appropriate tests and discuss treatment options like physical therapy with traction depending upon the findings

Trapezius: A common cause would be muscle strain.  Your trapezius muscle can commonly be irritated with activity. This would cause the symptoms you are experiencing.

Impingement: This symptom appears to be caused by an impingement of a nerve and to determine the location of the impingement and what are the  options for treatment,I recommend a consultation with a neurologist who can also order any appropriate tests which may be needed in order to make a diagnosis.
