? Mass vs. Vol Ave.: Depending on the MRI protocol, it is possible there is slight angling of the image, and one side is seen well while the other is not as clearly seen.  This is called volume averaging. It is more likely on a routine head mri, and unlikely on a dedicated MRI of the internal auditory canals.

It is also possible there is soft tissue is in one auditory canal.  Was there enhancement after contrast?

Irritation: Whenever there is surgery in your body, the healing process includes an inflammatory reaction and process that can create cysts in areas that been subject to bleeding and inflammation. A meningocoele is a cyst formed along the lining of of your meninges, a tissue surface that covers the spinal canal and your brain. Normally, if this cyst does not enlarge over time, no intervention is needed.

Ligament sprain: You most probably suffer from an MCL sprain.
Most of the times when it is mild you only need rest, anti inflammatory medication and ice.

Common finding: Most patients undergoing knee MRI will have a trace amount of fluid in the joint space.  This is  considered a normal physiologic finding.

i have a question i have these lumps on my neck from my previous surgery my doctor thinks there muscle knots can they be seen on a mri ?

Accepted Answer

Yes: MRI has great resolution for muscle, but it'd be a VERY expensive test to just diagnose some muscle knots. There may be more serious things that an MRI can pick up, i.e. enlarged lymph nodes in your neck, but this would be unlikely unless you were also having fevers, fatigue, night sweats, or some sign of infection. Try warm compresses and a massage to see if they'll go away.

: Those findings by MRI are consistent with bursitis. If pain has persisted for almost 3 months with treatment (NSAID and physical therapy), you should see the rheumatologist or orthopedist again.

Yes, as long as..: ...you restrict the meaning of &quot;nerve&quot; to its proper definition of one of the large named peripheral nerves e.g. median, trigeminal, common peroneal; or the nerve ROOTS in the spinal canal; or the roots, trunks and cords of the brachial and lumbosacral plexuses. You can&#x27;t see individual neurons or terminal branches such as nerve endings in the skin.

Yes, : there are abnormalities that might only be detected with a contrast enhanced scan.  Even if an abnormality is seen on a noncontrast scan, the addition of contrast might help make a more specific diagnosis.
