May be a calcium: The bone lives on its outside surface like bark on a tree. If you dropped something on a bony surface, you do not have to break bone to get a reaction. A marred bone may put on a bump called a callas, composed of bone fixers and blood that creates a knot that may last quite a while. Some bruises will also form a pocket of calcium that may last for quite a while also.

Keep wearing boot: Keep wearing the boot. Sometimes a break in the foot, depending on the bone, can take up to 3 to 6 months to heal. If you continue to have pain and swelling you may need another x-ray and possibly an mri. Sometimes trauma to the soft tissue can cause continued swelling which can be helped with a cortizone (hydrocortisone) injection, icing, or anti-inflammatories.

i hurt my ankle during a run this morning. it's tender and when i move my foot or put weight on it, it hurts.  should i go see a doc or wait 2 days?

Many possibilities: Your pain could be as a result of many different things. One would need to do a thorough history and physical exam and possibly some laboratory and radiology exams to determine the exact cause.  Have it evaluated by a professional to see if you have fractured it of if it is just a soft tissue injury such as a sprain.  You may have a ligamentus or a tendon injury or even a fracure.

Those dang warts.: Just in case it is a plantar wart, it would be wise to begin treating it soon. If you are not sure, then have it evaluated by a doctor experienced in warts and their treatment options. Left untreated, warts can spread like a wild fire, making the any treatment protocol more difficult.

Rest: If you can rest it, meaning stay off it if possible, that is probably best. If it continues for a couple weeks and you're concerned about fracture, you can make a routine clinic appointment to get examined.
