ive just had a mini tummy tuck with lipo of flanks. im 10 days post operation. when i sit my lower belly now makes a roll of fat over the incision and the incision tucks in. othis normal due to swelling? will it go down to make a flat belly?

Ask your doctor: As part of a tummy tuck procedure, the muscles are tightened. You should ask you plastic surgeon to be sure, but you should not have to do abdominal muscle tightening exercises as the surgery has already accomplished this. In fact, doing abdominal exercises could actually do damage to the surgery by causing the sutures that tightened your muscles to break. Ask your plastic surgeon!!!!!

Inform Surgeon.: I may have just answered this question for you;  it sounds like you may have a seroma.  Let your plastic surgeon know ( phone or e-mail).  He/she will have a plan (and possibly activity restrictions) for you.  This will likely involve aspiration of the fluid when you return home.  Try to enjoy your vacation nevertheless!

: Post operative inflammation and bruising is common. It typically heals in 3-4 weeks. Scarring can be minimized by massaging small amounts of vitamin E or Bio-oil onto completely closed incision site. Otherwise, talk to your operating Dr for follow up instructions.

: It is possible if you can't stand upright due to soreness. Your prolonged wound healing time and wound infection could delay the full recovery. In general, you may not feel like your normal self for months after the surgery.

Uncomfortable: Tummy tuck is an excellent procedure to restore an abdomen damaged by weight loss or children. Often the muscles of the abdomen are separated and require repair. That repair is responsible for a lot of the discomfort.
Research you doctor carefully some of the older techniques have a high complication rate.
