Yes??: What's the question? If it doesn't seem to be bothering him you can observe. He may have the beginning of an ear infection or a throat infection but he will let you know by his untoward behavior. At that point you can call back for further guidance if needed.

Usually is benign: Lymph nodes are located throughout the body &amp; generally noticable in exposed areas like the neck. They are usually pea sized at rest and enlarged when stimulated by bug bites, dermatitis, drainage or infection. They rarely can become damaged by infection &amp; grow to golf ball size &amp; need drainage or removal. Most enlarge and later shrink back down within a 3 wk cycle unless chronically stimulated

Hard to say.: Any infection, scratch or irritation of the skin, or head and neck can cause the lymph nodes to enlarge. What matters is your other symptoms &amp; how long the lymph node stays enlarged.  Consider getting it checked now, so your doctor can check for the cause. When the cause is found and treated the lymph node goes down over the next several weeks. If it stays enlarged, other tests may need to be done

Needs medical exam: You should see either your primary doctor or your OB/GYN as soon as possible and have that evaluated.  It's possible that it may be nothing more than a rogue urinary tract infection.  But the hard and swollen lymph node needs to be evaluated by medical personnel (doctor preferably) sooner rather than later.  Cheers!

Sounds sick.: This can all occur when your child is sick.  But then all of this, especially the lymph node enlargement, should go away once his infection is gone.  So should this all not resolve within two weeks total, then he should be evaluated again by his Pediatrician.

The : The thought of lymphoma is scary. The best thing to do now is wait for the biopsy results. That will give hopefully give you a definitive answer. The biopsy sounds like it is the best next step for making a diagnosis and finding out why those lymph nodes are enlarged.You have done a good job noticing that the nodes have enlarged and multiplied and gotten your son to a specialist for further evaluation. I know you're worried after your reading but hang in there until you know if you have something to truly worry about or not. If it is lymphoma then you and your physicians will come up with a treatment plan to deal with it. Speculating right now on what it may or may not be isn't helpful since you will have an answer with the biospy. Waiting is difficult. Stay hopeful. As mother's we are suppose to worry. That is how we protect our children. I hope you get good news from the biopsy and relief. Your thoughts of lymphoma are only that right now, thoughts.

Ingrown hair?: Are you sure it is a lymph node? An ingrown hair causing an abscess can cause a lump in an armpit. If it truly is a lymph node, then the nodes in the armpit drain the arm and the breast and superficial chest. Any infection or disease in those areas can cause a swollen node. If it doesn't continue to improve, you should see a doctor.

Only a little: Is it red or inflamed? You need an urgent evaluation to rule out an abscess, which may require incision and drainage.Bumps from old cat bites are generally not tender.

Infection: Lymph nodes can be a source of infection. Have him checked to see if he needs treatment such as antibiotics or drainage. If it is tiny like pea sized it may be normal. All the best.
