i have a 7 month old baby. shes on formula, nova lac it2. she seems to be constipated despite having 3/4 dirty diapers a day. however her poo is just pebbles. ?

Increase fluid: A drink of water in between feed may help. The baby seems to be extracting all the fluid is why there is less left in the bowel to push the stool out. You may also want to try pureed fruit by this age like banana.

M.D. visit: I would suggest discussing supplemental formulas and probiotics with your pediatrician. Breast milk is the best formula and enhances gut immunity.

Depends: Formula is not paperclips. There can be minor differences in the ingredients that babies gut may deal with differently.This can result in changes in digestive patterns, cramping,loose stools,constipation etc.while switching back and forth. That said, some kids won't notice any difference and will do well,(or poorly) on one or both. Best find one that works and stick with it.

I assume: you mean by "dirty diaper" diapers containing stool.  7 or 8 stools per day may not be unusual, but if it is a big change from previously, you should take your baby to her pediatrician.  If she is making fewer urine soaked diapers, it could mean she's dehydrated and needs prompt evaluation.

Green poo: The poo is colored by bile added during digestion.It starts out dark green and transitions through yellows to brown over time.Green poo just means the material  is moving through faster. If the kid seems to be better on the comfort, stay with it. The feed seldom has anything to do with or help in treating colic. It normally fades at 4 mo when they start to control their movement more.

Yes: The color of the stool reflects how quickly it passes through her digestive tract. Loose is OK unless you are dealing with frequent diarrhea. White stool or blood in the stool are problems. Green and loose are OK.

: First ask your pediatrician for help. Then, have your baby evaluated by a pediatric dentist who is skilled in tongue &amp; lip tie releases; usually with a laser. If your baby is lip &amp;/or tongue tied, it can inhibit proper lip seal which allows gas in it’s tummy called Aerophagia. Gut biome is also affected causing discoloration in stool. Hard to say: This site features volunteer docs based primarily in the USA so what your available choices are would be unknown to us. That said, Optipro (Carnation) is a cow milk based formula &amp; the other common  choice would be soy based. Changing fro one cow milk based formula to another seldom, but might work.

Not much...: Infant formula is obviously very safe for infants, and is therefore also safe for adults. I'm not sure you would like the taste of it very much but everybody has different preferences. But, there is nothing inherently harmful in infant formula unless you are allergic to milk or lactose intolerant (because it is made from milk).

Stop Formula!: The Academy of Pediatrics and other organizations all agree that infants should be transitioned from formula to whole milk after 12 months (1year) of age, then transitioning them to low fat or skim milk after 2 years of age; of course with a healthy well-balanced diet of solid foods.   Bottom line - your two year should not be drinking infant formula anymore - it has too many calories and fat.
