hi, i had a 3d scan today, am 7 weeks and 2 days. sac size and crl are as expected but sac volume is 6.8ml, is that too low?

Probably low normal: While this isn't my area of expertise I do have some experience using ultrasound. The measurements are highly dependent on the healthcare provider using the machine. (i.e. Operator dependent) it is so early in your pregnancy you are talking about very small volumes. If i were you i wouldn't fret and worry over every minor detail and number.  I'm sure you're in excellent hands. Be well.

11wks pregnant scan shows empty sac measuring 6 weeks what are the chances everything will be ok ?

Best to wait: And recheck. I don't know if the exam was performed transvaginally (which gives a clearer picture). However, when exams are done this early there can be significant variation in what is seen. Recent changes in criteria for when a pregnancy is abnormal indicate a heartbeat should be seen with a sac size of 25 mm (8 weeks). So take heart and be patient.

thought i was 10 but sac measuring 8 weeks and baby only 4.6 mm with no heartbeat. is this a or could i be out with dates? yolk present.

Repeat U/S: It is still to soon to tell exactly how far along you are. Your dates may be wrong.  You will need to repeat the U/S in a couple of weeks and repeat you blood HCG levels to make sure they are going up.  You need to f/u with your OB on a regular basis to monitor this.  However, try not to stress out this will not do you or the baby and good.  Good Luck

went to the doc nd they said im 6 weeks but she couldnt find the baby she saw the sac but no baby how come does that mean iam gonna lose the baby?

Uncertain: The sac is visible as early as 4 weeks, but the "fetal pole" may not be visible until after the 6th week.  If you are having vaginal bleeding that progresses to heavier menstrual flow or more, then you are probably going to have a miscarriage.  If it doesn't continue or worsen, you may still remain pregnant, so time will tell and by your next scheduled appointment the us will be definitive.

i had a date scan and all they found was a sac. they said i was 4 weeks and 6 days pregnant. is it normal for only a sac to be present at this stage?

Yes : It's too early to see a baby. You would not expect to see a fetus till 6 to 7 weeks.

i had an us at 5 wks due to past ectopic and sac with yolk there. a week later i had us and measured 6 weeks 1 day but no hb/ or pole dev.?  concern?

Accepted Answer

No concern yet: At 6 weeks the ultrasound isn't going to show much of the developing fetus other than a gestational sac. Be thankful that it is present in the uterus rather than another ectopic pregnancy.

Hard to know: Early ultrasound in pregnancy can sometimes be inaccurate because a fetal pole needs to be big enough for the ultrasound technology to pick up.  Typically we expect the gestational sac to grow between ultrasounds and  the development of a fetal pole over time as well.  No development of fetal pole could indicate very early pregnancy or blighted ovum

what are dos and don'ts for a lady in the sac?

Depends on your Dr: You may have limitations from before. It depends on your status and your conditioning and what comorbidities that you have. You can do a lot of exercise, and only be limited by your previous status. Certain medications are also limited and this would depend on your physician.

at 6-8 weeks is it normal to just see the sac and nothing in there?

Not usually: Usually can make out the heart, limbs , and head with aid of tech.

Bursal injury : This is a type of injury that affects a specialized sac of fluid called a bursa. We have many all over our body, in the ankle they can occur in front of or behind the achilles tendon. They can also form in response to pressure to serve as a buffer against irritation. When injured they can be painful and inflamed feeling much like a deep bruise.
