i was taking 2  7.5mg hydrocodone every 5 hrs. my dr. switched me to 2 5mg methadone a day. will there be a lot of difference?

Of course: Methadone is much more potent than hydrocodone as well as longer half life. Just follow your treating physician advice. Take care.

is it okay to be taking .5 xanax, (alprazolam) and 5mg hydrocodone together?

Be careful: Please discuss your question with your treating physician--only he or she knows specifically why you are  taking each medication, what other medicines you may be taking, and your medical and surgical history.
They are both potentially sedating, as well as each is potentially habit forming.  It may be fine, but you need to make sure you are discussing this fully with your physician.

No : You shouldn't but that's a radical change on medication. It's a big jump from Hydrocodone. Why are you needing these meds?  Have you had a heart work up and EKG?  It's needed when on this medication. You must be careful with methadone.

We do not predict: It is not our job to predict or speculate about treatment or diagnosis. Especially without a working knowledge of your history and physical situation.  Perhaps it is time to consider going opiate free and entering recovery. Obsessing about your pain management with strangers is unusual. Many chronic pain patients find a solution when opiate free that surprises them. Have you ever been to NA?

Pain management: You need a different or new doctor.  Hydrocodone is not in any way an appropriate treatment for chronic pain.

can you tell me is a 215 oxycodone stronger than 5mg hydrocodone?

Ask a pharmacist: The "215" on a pill is likely to just be the manufacturer's code for that particular pill; it is not the dose.  In general, oxycodone is about 50% more potent than hydrocodone. This means that a hydrocodone pill, in order to be the equivalent to an oxycodone 5 mg, will generally be at least 7.5 mg.  This really doesn't mean it's "stronger, " just more potent.

Effects or screen?: Do you mean how long is the drug effective for or how long does it remain in your system for a drug test? In the former it is probably effective for up to 6 hours but it may remain in your system for dry screen testing for up to 30 days and longer in hair testing samples.

Likely: Was hydrocodone prescribed to you?  Were you told you could take 2 at a time by the doctor that prescribed them to you?

If yes to both, then taking with advil (ibuprofen) is fine.

Norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen): Taper off the Norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) with the help of a physician.
