"brown spotting" ?: The "brown spotting" is oxidized blood, and may be from the pregnancy.  See your OB provider, as a pelvic ultrasound may discover why this bleeding is taking place.

Pregnant ?: If you have a confimed pregnancy (serum HCG test) and you are having a brown or pink discharge, get what is called a "quantitative" HCG test at your health care professional's office.  If the level of HCG is low for the age of the pregnancy, further tests are necessary (ultrasound of the uterus and tubes).

Thus, a woman is already "2 weeks pregnant" when she ovulates, and about "2 weeks + 1 day" at conception.

Fetus visualization: It is not uncommon to not see a fetus at 5 weeks gestation as only a gestational sac is present at that time. Your OB md will be following your ultrasound with another and a serial beta HCG to determine fetal devlopment- so follow their instructions.

Building a Barrier: Just as soon as you ovulate (in order to get pregnant) you begin a change in your cervical mucous that creates a barrier to prevent the upward transmission of pathogens from the vagina into the uterus (a mucous plug). Some of that discharge could just be extra up until the plug is established. Hard to say, but i don't think anything is wrong here.

Maybe old blood: Any bleeding during pregnancy needs to be evaluated promptly by your doctor. About 50% of women experience some degree of bleeding in early pregnancy making it very common but not normal. Most are fine but sometimes bleeding can indicate a tubal pregnancy or miscarriage. Get checked.

Normal singleton intrauterine pregnancy 2.  Normal multiple gestation like twins or triplets. Or 3. Gestational trophoblastic neoplasia.  A normal pregnancy or multple pregnancy is the most likely.
