: Since htp is a supplement, I don't know if the FDA has any official information about it. There is a wide range of doses. It should not be used with many antidepressants and I have seen one warning about it interacting with trazodone  rarely causing a serious condition called serotonin syndrome. Ask your pharmacist about using it with trazodone. I advise against its use with 150 mgs of trazodone

Trazadone: will "act" as a sleeping pill for a while since one it's SIDE EFFECTS is drowsiness!  It is actually classified as an ANTI-DEPRESSANT... 5HTP  is a so called "natural" antidepressant and has doubtful benefits.....MY OPINION ONLY ...hope it's helpful!

have been taking trazodone for sleep for five years. sex drive has been non-existent the last two years. is it possible the trazodone is causing this? i had no issues for the first three years. can side effects come on years later?

: Hello, hope you are doing fine. Increased Libido (Sex Drive) is one of the side effects listed of Trazodone, not low sex drive, but non-listed side effects can occur &amp; can occur later on also, but in your case, it is happening after 3 yrs, this is kind of very late, maybe there are some other factors playing a role in decreased libido.

i've never taken ambien cr. i took ambien for five years long term. no longer works like it once did. explained to sleep doc and he still wants me to try it?  w the trazodone 150 mg i stopped after being on it for a year and it stopped working.

May work better: Ambient CR is a slightly higher dose than the regular ambien (zolpidem) and it is a controlled release (CR) so that the medicine is enters your bloodstream over an extended period of time, so it may help keep you asleep longer.  I hope it helps!

You : You may have already tried not drinking caffeine after noon, not exercising too close to bedtime, and not using your computer or tv within an hour of bedtime. Consider adding "white noise" such as a fan. Be sure that your room is cool and not overly warm. Eating light during the day, then having a larger meal at around 7 pm or so can be helpful. Some conditions such as depression can cause early morning awakening, so if you have any symptoms of depression please tell your doctor.  If your sleep problems are ongoing, you may need a different type of sleep medication at your doctor's recommendation.

That's a common...: ...problem with meds for insomnia. You can become dependent on them or need higher doses for the same effect.  I don't recommend Seroquel (quetiapine) for insomnia UNLESS  it's caused by bipolar disorder (manic-depressive illness.) Try OTC melatonin 1-2 tabs 1 hour B4 bed.  Ask Dr. re: tricyclic (e.g. Elavil).  Get more info from:  &gt;may clinic.org-&gt;diseases &amp; conditions-&gt;I-&gt;insomnia.

Should not: Trazodone is a medication used for sedation ,to induce sleep, at times and or for anti depression! It's chemistry should not show on a typical urine drug testing,which typically detects amphetamines,cocaine,marijuana,benzodiazepines,opioids,barbiturates,and LSD compounds,Good Luck,

Not recommended: There is only one drug interactions between these 2 medications. However, hydrocodone and trazodone both increase sedation and drowsiness. Rec.: consult with your prescribing physician for more information.

Depends: If you have increased sedation from the dose, ask you prescriber to reduce the dose.
