5 HTP is generally: used for depression. Please do what your doc says and don't change meds w/out asking him/her first.  Having said that, there are many behavioral and natural approaches to anxiety.  Consider seeing a clinical psychologist who can teach you some techniques.  Peace and good health.

No: Masturbation is not the cause. You need to see a physician as soon as possible. Both the headache and chest pain could have serious causes and need to be evaluated immediately.

Chronic Headaches: Daily headaches can be frustrating and cumbersome; they occur due to many reasons.  Use of medications like Ibuprofen and triptans on a frequent basis can cause headaches.  Family history of headaches also predisposes a person to headaches.  Other factors involved include stress, physical trauma, sleep disorders, and previous history of headaches. Swelling is probably a separate issue; consult pcp.

Your Neurosurgeon ca: Ask your neurosurgeon to help you and guide you further. Spinal fluid(CSF) leaks are known to cause Headaches because of spinal fluid pressure changes.  If the CSF leak stops completely, it is likely that your headaches will stop. Drink extra  fluids in the meantime.

Makes sense: If you consider anxiety and depression as opposite ends of a spectrun of neurotransmitter activation, it makes sense.

Not really: "delayed ejaculation" is a more likely effect of any serotonergic compound, including 5-htp. What are you taking it for? Increased anxiety is more likely affect you than 5-htp. And one more thing: some of my patients have sexual side effects from antidepressants. Most of the times, we are able to overcome it by adding some other staff instead of stopping the medication.

Dysautonomia - MVP : If your doctors have not found any cause of the symptoms, you may have dysautonomia which is associated with  mitral valve prolapse syndrome - neither are usually life threatening but both cause patients anxiety about their symptoms. Perhaps a cardiologist can help you. Read dr. Richard hoffman's book on mvp on amazon.Com.  Increase fluid and salt intake, try magnesium supplements.

Yes: Could be serious if the numbers are high (more than 3 times upper limit of normal)
Any medication (prescription or over the counter) can cause elevated liver enzymes. Needs close monitoring, and if normalizes need to avoid this medication in the future.

Can be great: if you truly have a Serotonin deficiency.  5htp converts directly into Serotonin, thus rasing levels in the body.

SSRI's don't raise levels by making more, but rather re-use what you already have, but as time goes by and you have less and less to re-use, then many people get "poop out syndrome" while taking the SSRI that was helping and it no longer helps.
