Head trauma: In general, I would normally tell a patient to that head knots can be noticed for many weeks or months.

4 year old fell and cut her lip, now yellow fluid is leaking from  the wound. also sustained a secondary injury on her forehead?

Wound care: If there is a minor laceration on the forehead which does not require sutures, please use a topical antibiotic ointment. The wound should be cleaned and dried before applying the ointment. Watch for signs of swelling, pus and redness around the wound. The lip laceration should be evaluated by your pediatrician. Avoid foods with jagged edges and use a soft diet for a few days.

stool lactoferrin is  it something  to  worry about in a 4 year old?
she has been sick s for a week now throwing up everyday pooping nothing but water

Depends: It's not helpful to look at lactoferrin in an acute illness. Her symptoms seem more consistent with a viral illness. If she's had diarrhea lasting longer than 2 weeks, and the concern is for chronic colitis, checking a lactoferrin might be more useful.

i have four years old varicocele in left testicle and i left it untreated. now its size is got smaller than right one. is this will prove dangerous? my right testicle also pains which radiates in abdomen and pelvis. what if i left it untreated more?

: Pl wear a scrotal support or underwear. You also need to see a Urologist for proper evaluation for that can not be done in this forum. Good luck

Strep throat: he need  to be seen again,  likely strep is back, I see it a lot in practice  than few days after antibiotic , strep comes back  either from reinfection or  incomplete treatment

my almost 4 year old fell from the bicycle in a park and his nose is all scratched. does he need a tetanus booster?
he received 4 dtap shots by 18 months age.
does he need a post exposure tetanus shot? he will be turning 4 in a month?

Accepted Answer

NO: This is not a penetrating wound, so the likelihood of tetanus is so low I wouldn't even mention it.  If he's due for his 4 year well check next month, just keep that appointment and get his usual 4 year booster then. If you get one before his 4th birthday, he would have to repeat that dose, so I would wait. Keep area clean, wash with warm water and gentle soap.

his knee has started to swell up and cant walk properly for the last three days all of a sudden?

Needs evaluation: The potential for a serious bacterial infection from a slow growing germ is real &amp; needs immediate attention. Take the kid in now for a thorough evaluation.

Most likely: I would watch her out of the pool for 6-8 hrs &amp; monitor her breathing. If she plays normally, feeds &amp; drinks without developing any breathing issues she will be fine.

Time for visit: You need to call in and get an appointment to be seen,today if possible. This could be something as simple as fainting or as worrisome as a seizure. Get moving.
