Should remove: You should get it it removed , 40 mm polyp is pretty big , due  villous component  will have higher incidence of cancer . Please get it removed if possible by endoscopy , speak to your doctor.

Unlikely but you: Unlikely bet you are at risk. When will you have polyps these need to be pulled because some can turn into tumors. Your gastroenterologist Will explain this to you.

Very slowly if at al: Colon polyps can change into cancer but usually take a long time(monthst o years).Yet it is a good idea to get it removed before it gets much bigger and there is also some uncertainty as to how long it takes to become cancerous.

Rarely...: Unless you have familial polyposis syndrome, risk of malignant colon polyps at 28 years old is small. In older patients, the vast majority of polyps are non-malignant. Polyps may bleed, & at 28 the possibility of juvenile retention polyposis must be considered. However, bleeding per rectum at your age more typically runs the spectrum from hemorrhoids & anal fissures to crohn's/colitis & infection.

my husband had polyps in his rectum and sigmoid colon. they were taken out by using a snare and were biospied showing to be malignant. he then had another rectal exam and biopsy of the cell walls this showed that the it did not spread into the lymph nodes

Not sure: What is your question. Lymph node status can only be detected possibly with ct or pet scan and surgical specimen removal, that is, after colon &/or rectal resection.

can eus visualize gallbladder polyps?  what is the best imaging modality for differentiating benign vs. malignant polyp? should symptomatic polyp indicate cholecystectomy regardless of size?  what growth rate is significant for surgical referral? thx

Send us the report: Polyps in gall bladder can not be visualized with the  EUS because it is not possible to get inside the gall bladder(cystic duct is too narrow to get into).
If you can send us the report that you are concerned about we can guide you further. Removal of the GB may be indicated if there is any suspicion of a mass bigger than 5-6 mm in size.

Polypectomy: The gastoenterologist typically uses a hooped metal device to remove the polyp.  Sometimes the poly is big enough that they need to cut it in half to get to the base.

i'm 19 and they found 2 inflammatory polyps, .59 cm hyperplastic polyp, and rectal juvenile polyp in my colon. what's the risk of future colon cancer?

Juvenile polyposis: From just the information here, it's impossible to assess your risk. It depends on what type of juvenile polyps they were. Some types of juvenile polyposis syndromes do carry increased risk of colon cancer, but not all do. Your best bet is to discuss this with your gastroenterologist. Good luck.
