Absolutely: The more humidity the better. Put the humidifier right next to her crib, not 20 feet away across the room. Extra humidity helps soothe the airways from nose to lungs, and thus decreases mucous production making breathing easier. Also use saline prior to use of bulb syringe if cleaning out her nose.

During the summers, the house is already humid and its use adds little and may create problems.Humidity above 50% supports dust mite growth and above 70% supports mold.Staying at 30-40% is ideal and you can get a button battery powered humidity gauge to monitor the need.

5-6 feet: Any closer may cause too much humidity. Use gentle saline and keep his nasal passages clear. Keep the humidifier clean. Keep his room cool and head upright. All the best.

See your doctor: It would be unusual for a 3 month old to have allergies leading to nasal congestion. At that age, their nose is small, so it does not take much to plug it up. If they have had the congestion going on for more than a few days, is associated with fever (a temperature over 100.4f) or fussiness or poor eating, then needs to be seen soon.

Don't recommend it: The alcohol will decrease the hormone prolactin & decrease your output, the alcohol also transfers into the milk as it is made. The alcohol & its breakdown products have negative effects on babies brain development, which is in rapid growth mode in the early months & never really stops until adulthood.There is no known safe level of alcohol exposure for infants.

how high does a fever have to be to take a 3 month old back to the emergency room? just left the emergency room at 10pm last night they done  a spinal tap and blood work and urine test. he is only three months old i can not give any tylenol fever is 99.9

Assuming : Assuming the er physician felt your infants fever was due to a viral illness, you can observe at home if your infant is alert, eating well, having his usual number of wet diapers every few hours, no breathing difficulty and not fussy or irritable. 99.9 is not considered a fever. No need to give tylenol (acetaminophen) for 99. Always call your regular physician to see if a trip to the er is needed.

Humidifier's fine: I would not put Vicks in the humidifier.I consider all aromatic (smelly) compounds as irritants that aggravate cough and congestion in infants. I still remember the smell from childhood, but have never recommended it for preschool kids.

Yes: This is a very nice way to improve the humidity and also help decongest a baby without giving them medications. Don't forget the baby can use nasal saline drops too if congested. Put a couple of drops in the nose, gently massage, and then if he or she doesn't sneeze them out, use the bulb suctioner to clear out. Remember lots of cuddles too when baby not feeling well.
