Always: Mistakes on gender using ultrasound are always possible. I have delivered an 18 weeks stillborn whose sex could not be determined by looking at the genitalia. About the best time for determining gender, realistically, is about 24 weeks by ultrasound.

Metronidazole is not: absolutely contraindicated during pregnancy, but should be used with caution. Make sure your doctor knows you're pregnant and discusses the risks and benefits.

Sex during pregnancy: Sounds very normal. If you had an orgasm, that can cause cramping/contractions that could be causing you to feel sick. If your symptoms continue or get worse, not a bad idea to call your OB to make sure that all is well.

Placenta previa ?'s: Placenta previa at 18 weeks of pregnancy is not generally going to cause problems by early "18 weeks" fetal movement.  Later in pregnancy, placental location will be important to detect by pelvic ultrasound or symptoms of early bleeding with contractions.

Semantics: A pregnancy is considered to last 40 weeks or 9 months.  The two are not directly interchangeable because most months are not exactly 4 weeks. Half of a pregnancy is 20 weeks or 4 and 1/2 months.  It just does not correlate evenly.  Most of us use weeks rather than months to follow the duration of a pregnancy.

Probably ok: Its probably safer than getting a bunch of mosquito bites and taking a chance on getting something like west nile virus.  I've not heard of any issues of women exposed to the coils.
