Urine culture shows infection
A urine culture can only show the presence of bacteria in that particular specimen. The diagnosis of infection is clinical since some individuals can have asymptomatic bacteriuria and not be bothered by it. In addition at times the specimen can be contaminated and not representative of true infection.
