Babesiosis is an illness that can be spread when nymphs or adult ticks carrying a protozoan called babesia bite a human being. The vector is mammals. Sx's: fatigue, chills, muscle/joint pain, fever. Less common: nausea, abdominal pain, jaundice, headache. More severe: sweats, difficulty breathing & chest/hip pain. Dx can be confirmed with PCR/ antibodies.
