When should i start taking my birth control after delivering?

Depends on which one: For the first 6 weeks following delivery, nothing should be going into the vagina. ;-) if you are breastfeeding, the progesterone-only micro or mini-pill can be started by 6 weeks post-partum. If you are not breastfeeding, any form of birth control including iud, implantables, nuvaring, or combined (estrogen/progesterone) pills can be used. Estrogen will just reduce breast milk production.

4-6 weeks: Depends on if you are nursing, which we hope you are. The microdose pill can be started almost immed. But not rec. To start too soon if nursing. With any pill we would like to make sure you have good flow of milk. If nursing and using pill, good nutrition and fluid intake very important.
