A 38-year-old member asked:

can pyridium (phenazopyridine) make your anus itch?

1 doctor answer1 doctor weighed in
Dr. Sheila Calderon

Maybe: It turns the urine red orange and if you accidentally wipe your rectum with the same toilet paper you used after urinating it may cause you irritation and itching. If you are also taking antibiotics for a UTI you may also develop yeast afterward which causes itching.

I have a constant vaginal itch but do not have any discharge. Could this be an infection?

A member asked:

What medicine is it safe to give my baby for itchy eyes?

Dr. Florence Nwofor
Specializes in Pediatrics
Depends on age: For infants less than 6 months i will recommend that your care provider checks your baby to recommend appropriate care. Cool compresses to the eyes may help relieve itching. Several antihistamines, like Diphenhydramine are available OTC for infants over 6 months but the dosing can be tricky and will encourage that you review any medication intended for your infant with your pcp before use.

I am seven months pregnant and have itchy red bumps on my abdomen. Is this related to my pregnancy or just a coincidence?

Dr. Patrick Weix
Specializes in Obstetrics and Gynecology
Maybe!: This could be a contact allergy, a folliculitis (infection around hair follicles), or puppp. Puppp is a pregnancy related condition where itchy red bumps start in the stretch marks. They can join to form larger itchy plaques. Puppp usually occurs around 35 weeks but can start earlier. Treatment is usually aimed at the symptoms. None of those conditions are dangerous.

What is an anal chlamydia infection like?

Dr. Joel Gallant

Rectal symptoms: Rectal pain, pain on defecation, and rectal bleeding or discharge. Remember that some anal chlamydia, especially in gay men, is due to a type of chlamydia called lymphogranuloma venereum (lgv), which requires a longer course of treatment than standard chlamydia. Not all labs can tell the difference.
