STDs: Gonorrhea and chlamydia are both bacteria that are sexually transmitted diseases (stds). They are spread from person to person via unprotected sexual intercourse. They both infect multiple sites in females, most commonly the cervix. Other sites of infection can include the urinary tract, anus/rectum, oropharynx, or eyes. Treatment with antibiotics is important to prevent complications.
