Depo: It's out of your system, but your periods may not come back to normal for at least 6 months.

Varies: Technically the contraceptive effects stop 3 months after the shot. It can take a lot longer for some people to resume normal periods. For some it can take up to one year. If you are looking for menstrual cycle control consider starting the birth control pill.
