Maybe (not) . . .: Safe from what? Sexually transmitted disease? No. Pregnancy? Maybe (not). There is no need for a 2nd form of contraception if your Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) is started during your menses. Starting outside that period of time means that another form of contraception is needed. Birth control pills can be used as emergency contraception but only in a very specific manner. Just one won't do. Go see doc for options.
