Old blood: On occasion, overgrowth of the lining of the breast ducts results in a condition called papillomatosis. These delicate structures may bleed with manipulation. The blood will become dark brown with time (chocolate colored). Forceful expulsion will cause this fluid to come out the nipple. This should be evaluated and submitted for histology.
