Do you think i should keep taking my birth control if my period already started?

Yes: If you are taking your birth control pills to regulate your periods, you need to take them daily as directed regardless if you are bleeding or not. If they were prescribed to decrease heavy bleeding, you need to be on them consistently for at least 3 months to get the most effect.
