A member asked:

Why am i having a period when i'm taking birth control where you should only have 4 periods a year?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Breakthrough: While women on the three month pill should ideally onlhy have a menstrual period every 3 months, it sometimes does not work that way and these women experience random breakthrough bleedings. While this may be a nuisance, it does not interfere with the effectiveness of the birth controll pill.
