Chip fracture: Treatment depends on if you are having pain, if you are it can be removed or nsaids or cortisone injection to reduce inflammation.

Depends: Really depends on where the "chip" was. If out of the joint and small probably not much to do and probably not much to do at initial time of injury. If you had a small break/fleck intraarticularly and it is causing mechanical symptoms then this may require more aggressive measures. Sounds like it was a minor problem but knowledge or visualizing films would be more helpful.
