It is recommended to continue taking birth control as prescribed, even if experiencing food poisoning. Vomiting and diarrhea can affect the absorption of medication, so it is important to use a backup method of contraception, such as condoms, for at least 48 hours after vomiting or having diarrhea. If symptoms persist or worsen, it is important to seek medical attention.
