"Yaz" is a low dose oral contraceptive, and because the use of same stops ovarian production of estrogen, the lining of the uterus (endometrium) is not as thick as with a "natural" menstrual cycle, so there is frequently minimal withdrawal bleeding. This does not affect the contraceptive aspect, unless the "placebo" period is longer than seven days, and ovulation can occur.
