A member asked:

Can vaginal inflammation affect fertility?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It depends. Vaginal infections, if they are limited to the vagina, can produce a transient reduction in fertility by interfering with sperm vitality if present. This resolves after the inflammation clears. If the vaginal infection is caused by a germ that enters the uterus and tubes, it can produce scarring that can cause infertility. Chlamydia and Gonorrhea are examples of germs that do this.
