Your syphilis is cured. Your initial titer undoubtedly was 1:32. The official definition of cure is a two dilution decline in titer by 6 months, and 1:32 to 1:8 meets that standard. The titer may continue to decline in the future, but sometimes never becomes totally negative. It is an unrealistic and necessary standard to wait for an entirely negative test; surgery is 100% safe now.
