Micronor, a progesterone-only pill (POP) is as effective as any other birth control pill in preventing pregnancy which if used correctly are exceptionally reliable though not 100%. All hormone-containing birth control pills increase the risk of blood clots, especially in smokers, and slightly increase breast cancer risk. The risk of ectopic is higher with POPs but still lower than no pill at all
