I am rh- and ttc with my husband who is rh+. i think i would need the rhogam shot if i have any vaginal bleeding during pregnancy. what if i dont yet realize that im pregnant, miscarry, mistake it for a period, and consequently dont get the shot?

Given your age and the Rh status, it would be prudent to see an obstetrician before you get pregnant. S/he may also advise you about pre-natal vitamins and other issue that may facilitate conception.

Should see your OB: You should have a blood pregnancy test done. A second one should be done 2 days later; the level typically doubles in that time if things are normal.

BHCG : Usually after a miscarriage the doctor will follow your BHCG levels to see when they go zero. 2-6 weeks after it goes to zero one expects a period
