At "39", bleeding after sexual activity at "4 weeks of pregnancy" is most likely due to cervical inflammation, and not a miscarriage, however, see your OB physician for a serum HCG test, and exam. Cervical irritation leading to bleeding post-sex is not going to affect the pregnancy. Miscarriage is more common in late 30's.
