A member asked:

I have dense breasts & there was a density found on mammo. went for u/s last wednesday & on disc it read 200 retro small hypoechoic nodule 1. i havent received a call. does this mean its not suspicious? im curious & ill call dr. too. im 46. ty?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

At age 46, a "density" found on mammography needs a tissue biopsy. Ultrasound revealing "hypoechoic nodule" is not sufficient to rule out the by definition "suspicious" nature of the density found on mammography. With fibrocystic disease obscuring some lesions in even digital mammography, safest is to have a wire located biopsy of the density.
