The most important way to prevent recurrence of the fissure is to avoid constipation and hard stool , by eating a high fiber diet ,drinking extra fluids and engaging in regular exercise . Other causes of a recurrent fissure can be diagnosed by a careful examination , with further testing , like anoscopy and colonoscopy ,as indicated . In such cases, specific treatment would be given.
