Likely jock itch: Jock-itch is a fungal infection and often can be treated with a topical such as Lamisil (terbinafine) or itraconazole (otc creams) 2-3x/day for about 2-3 wks. Keep the areas clean and dry and it will improve with above treatment. Probably not related to shaving. Color should normalize in few months. If not better with above, it maybe something else and u should consult doc. Good luck.

Friction Follies: Shaving the skin results in micro-trauma. This dilates tiny capillaries resulting in redness. It also allows micro-organisms to enter more easily and possibly cause infection. The skin in the groin/scrotal region is very sensitive and thin. Hair in this region decreases irritation from friction and sweat. Repeated shaving of the epidermis and hair removal defeats these protective measures.
