A female asked:

im 16 and my breasts are very small. i was underweight due to eating habits which have since changed, yet ive seen little change in their size. how can i assure their growth without gaining excess body fat? did this permanently stunt their growth?

Hard to know: Final breast size is determined by an interplay between genetics/hormones/tissue sensitivity & nutritional status. Some women will end with a raisin on a pancake shape as their final outcome while others may have a pair of watermelons. At sixteen you may fill out some but I wouldn't expect a drastic change.

Will I be able to breastfeed if I have had a breast reduction?

Dr. Robert Benner

No: Most women who have had breast reductions will find it difficult to nurse, and some may find it impossible. There's no harm in trying but it is important to be realistic. The operation relocates the nipple and disrupts the nerves that signal the brain to produce and release breast milk when the baby sucks. Sometimes there is adequate nerve function and with persistence nursing can succeed.
