A member asked:

Fairly new onset of bilateral breast tenderness for over a month. i am taking mercilon oral contraceptive. have been on it for approx 4 months. and this is the first month it's happened. can it be from that? or might be it be something else?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Mercilon: Bilateral breast tenderness is a well recognized side effect of mercilon. If it remains a very uncomfortable your gynecologist can try you on a different oral contraceptive. In the meantime wear a loose fitting bra. Some patients find relief with applying some heat to the breasts. Unfortunately many women discontinue oral contraceptives as breast tenderness often tends to go on for months.
