Detective work: The common culprit in this issue is red#40 which would be listed in the ingredient section of any commercial food product. It is banned in some countries. The red can be a pass trough stain rather than blood, but the kids doctor could test the stain to see. I know of no test for this. You just don't feed him anything red unless you make sure there is none of the # 40 red in the product.

Emergency department: The baby should be seen right away. While the red tinge may be red dye, bleeding should be ruled out. A source of bleeding in the GI tract should be evaluated.,
