A 23-year-old female asked:
I am 6 days late for my period and i have tender breasts, but when i took a pregnancy test it only had a very faint line to indicate that it was positive, does this mean i am pregnant or not?

Can retest in 1 week: Home pregnancy tests are very accurate and not affected by foods, herbs, common illnesses, sexually transmitted diseases, or medications. A correctly done urine test gives a reliable result by 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have been) or 1 week after missing a period. If done sooner, a mildly positive result is likely real but a negative result may be from testing too soon.
