Irregular bleeding ?: At 38 years, cycles sometimes become unpredictable, and bleeding can be secondary to sustained high estrogen production, without ovulation, and occurs at intervals as described. Also, if bleeding is heavy, a clot may block the cervical canal temporarily, and then dissolve which allows blood to flow again, resulting in intermittent perceived flow.
