I accidentally took two birth control pills today. will that make it less effective?

Unlikely: The pill works by providing a level of hormone in your system that prevents your ovaries from releasing eggs. A bit extra doesn't hurt, but skip a few days & that hormone level drops enough for eggs to release. You should be fine.
