A member asked:

Been on birth control pill for 6 years and gained a lot of weight, will going off the pill help me lose weight? am on junel

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Oral BCP's ?: Oral bcp's prescribed currently are very low dose, and do not appreciably cause weight increase. Stopping them will therefore not usually assist in weight loss. Regular exercise, even a simple as 30 minutes of brisk walking per day, plus cessation of carbohydrates (sweets, cake, bread, potatoes, etc.) will assist in weight loss.
